I've contacted Dropbox support, but they say they're unable to answer my question. Do you guys have any idea what could be wrong? This computer seems to be clean as a whistle. I have scanned for malware, spyware, viruses, everything. I have tried older versions, disabled Microsoft Security Essentials, disabled the firewall, moved my Dropbox location multiple times and I've even added a password to my Windows user. I've cleaned the registry from old Dropbox files, I've rebooted countless times and reinstalled countless times. An unkillable app that runs in the background without any way to interact with it. I rebooted in safe mode and it worked! I got the setup window and set everything up, synced my folders and everything.īut as soon as I reboot in normal mode, I get the same results as before. The app was running, but no icon in systray and no setup-window. After the installer was done, I was back at square one. I uninstalled Dropbox, rebooted and deleted the Dropbox folder from Application Data, rebooted again and downloaded the newest version and ran the installer. I restarted the computer and when it rebooted the icon was still missing and the app was running, just as before. I even tried killing it trough cmd, but without luck. The app was still running though and I could see it in the processes list. In the event of a breach, Dropbox Passwords will send you an immediate alert, with detailed instructions on how to respond quickly to fraud, theft, and security breaches. About a month ago the Dropbox icon in the systray disappeared. Once you’ve taken the steps to protect your passwords, you can add a final layer of security with Dropbox password breach notifications. I've got an older computer that runs Windows XP. I've been using Dropbox for a couple of years now and I love it! It has always worked beautifully and without problems, until now.
